Merlin: Season 4

4x11 The Hunter's Heart

It is nice to see Gwen back and it is definitely good that Arthur wants to return to her, though on the other side, from a political point of view it was a terribly stupid move from the king, and one may even say a bit egoistical, since Arthur puts his own personal happiness over politics and what is good for his kingdom, choosing a love match over a political alliance. The treaty with Princess Mithian looked like one from which Camelot could gain a lot, the princess herself was a likeable character, and I guess had Arthur married her, they could be good friends and relatively happy together. There is no great love between them as in the case of Arthur and Gwen, but they definitely like and respect each other and their marriage could be a good one. It is hilarious to watch Merlin trying to make Arthur and Mithian split off, particularly as the princess is really nice to Merlin and actually defends him from Arthur's bullying. And after breaking up the engagement with Mithian, Arthur makes a decision to give the disputed territory to Mithian and her descendants, something that is obviously adverse to Camelot as the kingdom loses this area.
