The Nest 2020

I am but a simple man. I see Carrie Coon, I watch Carrie Coon. I went into this film blind, not seeing any trailer or anything outside the cast. Carrie Coon is such a fierce and there is a scene maybe 20-30 minutes into the film at a dinner party and Carrie has this incredible non-audible close up that is so great. Sean Durkin knew what he was getting with Carrie and gave her the space to operate in the best way possible. Incredible use of the house itself which felt like the third billed character.

Slow burn of a film with no grandiose payoff but more a calm and understated agreement or conclusion. This one will certainly stick to my bones and I will think about it for days to come. Not sure if this was the color balance from the projector or by design but this was a very dark film, using almost all natural lighting it seemed.

This film will definitely benefit from a re-watch to fully grasp the unraveling of the spool and so I can properly understand the final horse scene.

Always great to hear anything from Richard Reed Parry and he did an excellent job with the score.

Carrie Coon forever
