Doomsday 2008

I remember seeing this in a quarter full cinema when it was released. There was much laughter and reaction.

Back then, we laughed at the film - its story is novel, its script is simple, it's acting isn't great. And the reactions were mostly in disgust at the gratuitous violence.

I personally quite enjoyed it despite all of that. Maybe Rhona Mitra had me seduced...

Looking back at it now during the 'rona pandemic... and having watched it once more in the years between... I think it's improved with age.

The TV show 'Survivors' by the BBC shares a lot with the feel of this film. Well, the first bit before it goes Robin Hood or is it the bit earlier before it goes 28 Days Later. Anyway, it is enjoyably ridiculous and one of the better films to watch about pandemics to take the sting out of our reality.
