Focus 2015

So basically, this film glamorizes the fuck out of deception and stealing. There are certainly movies where one ends up rooting for the main characters who are thieves but this isn't one of them. I admit it was kind of amusing that they were mucking up things for cheaters, but past that it just made me uncomfortable to even consider wanting these people to succeed. I mean, I wanted them to fail and I wanted them to be miserable. They deserved it. What's that say about them being likeable characters? They had no heart; they were selfish pricks. It doesn't matter how smooth they were with their humor; they sucked ass.

Speaking of heart, oh god, the "love" crap peddled in this. Who in their right mind wants to be with someone they can't even trust? The Jess chick was all "I trust you!" when she thought Nicky was dying from the gunshot. No, bitch, you don't! There's no reason for her to either. Nicky made it clear, more than once, that he wasn't to be trusted. And she wasn't so trustworthy herself. What was she even in love with anyway? All his brooding? Seriously, there was an insane amount of that considering he never suddenly opened up and shared anything deeply personal or profound about himself; like it seemed to be indicating he would at any given moment. They also did the whole "I wanna be with you but let's make it super complicated and pretend that it's much too difficult to be based on our lame ass circumstances" thing. I fucking hate that shit. Be grown ass adults and be together if you want and not if you don't. Don't fuck around; in any sense! It's not right.

Honestly, if you're so smart and so capable, and obviously aren't opposed to working hard, why would you choose to expend all that energy on being a terrible person with terrible values making other people's lives terrible? It was a terrible movie. It wouldn't have even taken that much effort to make it a little bit better.
