Ethos: Season 1

1x07 Episode 7

  • If only Yasin had told Ruhiye what really happened when he was in her village, I think that would have helped her tremendously. You can really see the change in her after finding out the truth and after her confrontation with her rapist. Also, I was a bit surprised by Yasin's actions. I would have thought he would maybe beat the guy or threaten him, but what he did, exposing him in front of the whole village, was so much better!
  • Knowing that Semiha ended up being married to her rapist makes her conversation with Ruhiye, in the last episode, much more heartbreaking and impactful. Ruhiye suffered from what happened because she couldn't accept it, even though she got married and had another family. Semiha, on the other hand, suffered the fate of many women who are forced to marry their rapist in societies who deem this the only "acceptable" option
  • So I am assuming something happened to Hazal, the girl who used to work for Peri's parents. Did that cause their initial prejudice against veiled women?
  • The scene between Gülbin and her sister shows how the same event can have different impacts. Gülbin was talking about something to do with the Kurds and hate crimes, pinpointing to her sister her inability to comprehend how she can still be on the "other" side after what happened to their mother and as a result, to their brother
