A Shirley Temple classic, Heidi is a touching film about redemption and the bonds of family. The story follows an orphaned girl named Heidi who’s taken to live with her hermit grandfather, but just as they’re starting to bond her aunt abducts her and sells Heidi to a rich family to be a playmate to their invalid daughter. Shirley Temple gives a terrific performance and has great chemistry with Jean Hersholt; who plays her grandfather. And per usual, a cute little dance number is worked in that features some elaborate costumes. Heidi is a beloved holiday classic and really highlights Shirley Temple’s amazing talent to light up a screen and win over the hearts of audiences.
