It turns out to be mostly a feel-good movie in the end but you get the sense that a lot was dropped on the cutting room floor. Some characters and plotlines end up being dead ends as their importance seems to simply give way to the dramedy plotline.
I know that it probably wasn't planned beforehand and was likely thrown in to address the controversy but I even liked people jokingly asking if Emma Stone's character told them about her being some part Hawaiian, but in the sense that some people are so worried about what percentage X, Y or Z they are and that doesn't interest most other people in the slightest.
