@chrismagovern Trakt.tv uses themoviedb.org for all its data. TMDb lists its anime in air date order not DVD order.

@luckyradiation Ah ok, that makes sense, thanks for the clarification

@chrismagovern so is the DVD order correct or the air date order?

@abstractlegend I'm thinking DVD order. I watched it in DVD order via funimation and it made sense timeline-wise. It's also listed on wikipedia in DVD order.

@chrismagovern The weird thing is that image of the episodes seem to be from the episode that's supposed there...

@abstractlegend Yes, the DVD order is the order most people use when watching it, as it's the only official order for the full 26 episode run.

Allow me to explain...

The first run of the show in Japan began Friday, April 3, 1998 and ran every week through June 26, 1998. But it was an incomplete airing, only showing 12 episodes and a special. The special episode, titled "Mish Mash Blues" was a recap episode of those 12 episodes, with text at the end saying "This Is Not The End. You Will See The Real 'Cowboy Bebop' Someday!"

The original run premiered the episodes in this order (DVD numbering included for convenience's sake):
- ep 2: Stray Dog Strut
- ep 3: Honky Tonk Woman
- ep 7: Heavy Metal Queen
- ep 8: Waltz for Venus
- ep 9: Jamming with Edward
- ep 10: Ganymede Elegy
- ep 11: Toys in the Attic
- ep 12: Jupiter Jazz (Part 1)
- ep 13: Jupiter Jazz (Part 2)
- ep 14: Bohemian Rhapsody
- ep 15: My Funny Valentine
- ep 18: Speak Like a Child
- Special: Mish Mash Blues

The show returned on Saturday, October 24, 1998, airing every week until April 24, 1999... running all 26 episodes using the DVD order that we're all familiar with.
This is, of course, the same airing order that Adult Swim would later use for the broadcast of the English version in 2001.
