At some point he reveals that the reason he forced the prisoners to sing was because of the constant buzzing he heard, which itself was a consequence of the killings.
It is revealed that this particular Nazi is broadcasting songs in German --- likely hiding a code ---via a private radio station. The Hunters accidentally stop the broadcast before they can figure out who is receiving the signal. At the end of the episode it is discovered that the code in the broadcast lullaby is actually a list of two targets and a date.
