Foundation: Season 1

1x01 The Emperor's Peace

  • You can so clearly see the budget behind, what an amazing time to be able to watch such means even for series
  • Mmm the interactions/dialogues in the first 20 mins feel.. not natural, dunno. Too much explanatory at the benefit of the viewer rather than spontaneous for that world (Master Orlio&Emperor), or to convey some feeling (astonishment - the kid in the elevator)
  • That Master Orlio death was a little bit random: not sudden and powerful to give the sense of a mighty emperor's power, nor built-up in tension.. colorless
  • Alfred Enoch, unforced acting. Good one
  • Feelings of the Jedi library there
  • Poor Synnax planet, getting roasted merciless by now
  • Jared Harris raising the bar
  • Ah, fear of knowledge - a classic
  • Writing is elevating as well
  • Visually stunning
  • Editing feels quite fast paced in the central part, compared to the scenes rhythm (prior to the trial)
  • Good shift of focus on the prediction and how an ordered society will deal with such a thing
  • "Exile was always the plan" - Hari you magnificent rascal
  • "On Synnax, no one wanted to hear that our seas were rising" - mmm, rings a bell. Now we just need to ban sciences and maths

Ok, feels like it started scared of its own hugeness, with rushed and didascalic conversations to then slowly build up its identity. Hopefully they will dig deeper into the more philosophical aspects that they introduced in the last third of episode!
