Dune 2021

"I have seen this place in a dream, he thought. The thought was both reassuring and frustrating. Somewhere ahead of him on this path, the fanatic hordes cut their gory path across the universe in His name. The green and black Atreides banner would become a symbol of terror. Wild legions would charge into battle screaming their war cry: Muad'Dib!"

So it begins...

Denis Villeneuve is the Mahdi of every Dune fan. He has done for Dune what Peter Jackson did for LOTR, gave the source material the scale and the effort it deserved. It doesn't follow the script of your typical high budget movie, it doesn't hit the notes you'd expect, doesn't retread the same old path we've seen countless times in countless other movies and it's all the better for it.

It follows the book, albeit in its own way here and there, and it does so in Villeneuve's gorgeous visual style. This is a feast for the eyes and a dream come true for any Dune fan. Now, we just have to hope releasing it on HBO Max doesn't hurt the profit that might prevent Part Two from coming out, despite WB saying they'll green light the project regardless.

They fucking better.
