I loved it from one simple reason: They killed the comeback of The Matrix on purpose.
In an early dialogue in the movie, they acknowledge that "Warner Brothers will reboot the matrix franchise with or without us"
And the Wachowskis decided not only to take the task, but to also deliver a bland movie, with little new to add, just to show Warner Brothers there was no need for a reboot, for a sequel, or for anything else Matrix related.
With this movie, they just killed any pretense of Warner Brothers making a new trilogy or sequel to this.
The fights are uninspired, the journey is almost pointless, the motive of the movie is cheap, and the actors are just there to trigger an emotional response.
20 Years later and we still don't need more matrix, and they just buried the chances of more coming out.
