Started out intriguing, containing a deep plot, with a cast that is rather fitting for this show.
But the end of season 1 - and there probably won't be more than that - is a terrible, terrible close for the story. It is overly clichéd with the good guys winning and a "let's ride in the sunset" attempt that made no sense given the risk for the person who tries it.
You got a great buildup to the very last episode, with a lot of different houses, eh, fractions but they all ultimately lead nowhewe, just like that. It's okay that the proclaimed armageddon didn't happen but seriously. The end doesn't feel satisfying at all, perhaps one of many reasons is the woman who shot that one person running away in the desert early on is still alive at the end. Her character existence in this show really confuses me, there seems to be no other purpose than wreaking havoc to make the audience confuse it with suspense or action or to provoke a strong emotional attachment to the show by making her the character she is.

It's like a show that has almost everything, a good story, compelling, likable actors, mostly nice writing for the episodes (hence still a 5/10) BUT somehow that special something is missing, that one thing making you think this is actually great, or worthwhile, or making you look forward to a new episode each week.
Instead the show introduces way too many characters and loses time and with that itself on each one of them, unable to connect all the dots appropriately at the end and without ending abruptly, leaving some characters hanging in the air (some of them were even killed off as lame cannon fodder).
Two of those things where time is lost are the borderline incest theme of one of our main characters, resurfacing every now and then, it reaaally bothers me and the Jewish boy trying and failing to kill others, repeatedly and falling in love/feeling attached to a woman for the first time along his travel.
All due respect for character depth, but it's too much here considering the show's strict timespan.

As a two season show this would have been better, or simply as a one season show with less characters and/or a better focus.
No matter your feelings towards the first few episodes, rather watch something different, something worth your time because this sadly isn't. It's frustrating to see how it ends. Wrong characters die, wrong characters stay alive and a no-end end kind of thing.
