Timecrimes 2007

This is really entertaining until you realize that the cleverness of showing the same events, but from different angles, really isn't all that clever. Yes, the way Hector begins subconsciously creating what he's seen before and then purposely starts setting things up is interesting, but eventually the "Ah-Ha! I remember that!" novelty wears thin.

The plight of the characters is not interesting because we learn absolutely nothing about them. That's an okay thing if the story means to concentrate on the science, the time-travel device, the guy running the time-travel machine, but this isn't covered, either. Instead there's only the same scenes reconstructed two or three times. Worse yet, it happens to people you don't know a thing about. It's ultimately uninteresting.

What makes the movie worth watching is the unwrapping of (or wrapping of) the man in the bandages. The ending is also a nice moment and it does keep you wondering how it's going to end.

This was a similarly frustrating watch for many of the same reasons as 2009's much raved about "Triangle" was.
