Erik Kripke hands the reins over to Sera Gamble as Supernatural returns for a sixth season and tries to find a new direction post-Apocalypse. It abandons its Christian mythology and starts bringing in fairies, dragons, and alternate dimensions. Still, the writers come up with some really creative and fun episodes. Also, Mich Pileggi and Sebastian Roché join the cast as recurring characters, and there are several notable guest starts, including Robert Picardo, Robert Englund, and Brian Doyle-Murray. While Season 6 is entertaining and full of thrills, it remains to be seen if Supernatural can continue without the Apocalypse theme that has come to define the last few seasons of the show.
