[4.4/10] I had naively hoped that, after a better-than-expected to the Fromm arc, maybe Droids had found its footing. Sadly, “The Lost Prince” dissuaded me of that. We’re back with another bland human hero, and another underwritten female sidekick, and a heap of caricatured baddies, and more terrible slapstick than you can shake a gaderffi stick at. Oh, and of course, our heroes have to bumble around before escaping from yet another villain stronghold. Feh.

There’s a handful of redeeming qualities here. As much as I tire of amnesia stories, there’s something a little bit cool about the good guys realizing that a supposed android (what’s the difference between a droid and an android in the Star Wars universe) is actually an alien prince. As a Star Wars Rebels fan, it doesn’t hurt that the purple aliens look a little bit like the Lasat. The show doesn’t do much with the idea, but showing kindness to a stranger and having that kindness ultimately rewarded when the stranger turns out to be more than they seem is a venerable plot for a reason.

But the villains are so dumb and generic, both in terms of thier designs and their personalities. The uncle who officially owns the droids is a tepid Yosemite Sam knockoff, who likewise has an awful design. And the whole precious element that could instantly explode bit is a cliche.

Overall, this is not a promising start for this arc, and my hopes that Droids will turn the corner is quickly dwindling.
