Another solid episode, it did a good job at fleshing out the characters motivations, and it had solid tension two, after the J-Youth team started going all out.
The feeling of of urgency the tryouts had during this episode really made me more attached to them, with them feeling like this tryout is their last chance at becoming a pro-soccer player, and being driven to give it their all at this match.
Also, man did I enjoy Ashi's character this episode, and it was hard watching him being messed around with by Akutsu as the J-Youth team started dominating them, though luckily Ashi remained hopeful, believing they could still win in spite of this.
Man Akutsu is one intimidating character, but looks like he's not all talk, the way he dominated Ashi, constantly stealing the ball from him, was so impressive. Its clear why he's on the starter team. And from the poster, it seems like this is not the last time were seeing him.
I'm really liking Otomo and Tachibana a lot more. Tachibana's story of feeling complacent in his previous team and seeing these tryouts as the last chance he has to better himself really made me like him as a character, and seeing Otomo's unwavering drive to win these tryouts, despite how clearly nervous he is about this match, made him a great person in my eyes too.
