Overall, this was a decent season. Definitely a large step up from the first. But from the little I've read (don't want to accidentally spoil anything, so haven't read much) this is considered the best season. If this truly is the best season, then that will be a bit of a bummer. It was fine, but I don't think it was spectacular. The side arc about Winona and Gary's money troubles was especially awful - nothing but a time waster.
I know it's impractical due to casting and all that, but I wish the Bennetts had somehow been introduced earlier than this season. They are clearly a lineage with a storied past, notably having a supposed blood feud with the Givenses. But we barely get any context, nor do we even really see the blood feud in action, other than being told "yep we have a blood feud." And even that is kind of introduced out of the blue, a few episodes in. At the start, they are fairly cordial with Raylan (except for Dickie and Coover). Then we are told they have a century-long feud. Just feels rushed. But, it's better than having to fill 20+ episodes, resulting in pointless filler, so I can't complain too much.
