I’m not a fan of Mel Gibson as a human by any means, but it’s difficult to deny how incredible his performance was in this film. The entire cast was wonderful.
I don’t think I had ever felt as much tension as I did when I first saw this in the theater. The buildup was fantastic and effective. The creep factor was solid. I literally screamed at one point (that damn party scene), and remained on the edge of my seat until the final scene.
There’s so much here that connects one thing to another, beyond the epiphanies at the end. This was a well thought-out story with a solid message. M. Night’s best film in my opinion.
