The production value is amazing! The acting is top-notch! The writing isn't bad. BUT this is one anti-climactic first episode compared to the pilot for Game of Thrones. It's not terrible, but there isn't much of a drive that makes it as addicting as GoT. I'll stick around to watch the rest of the seasons, but this first episode makes it feel like a supplement to the original series rather than its own thing. So odd that the week started with the end of an amazing spinoff but now the start of one that doesn't realize it has heavy shoes to fill.

@pedrobarragan237 Totally agree. Better Call Saul has ruined spinoffs for me. Was thinking about BCS throughout this episode and how well it managed to chart its own course. Too early to predict how this one will go but I think it's unfair to compare everything with BCS.

@thefomoguy Well, I'll only compare spinoffs to BCS, which really made itself into its own thing over an extension of Breaking Bad (at least when it was just Saul/Jimmy's story). I also just saw The Rings of Power and I do have to say that takes the cake in regards to being a solid prequel that actually got me invested in the story, I have yet to see what the pull for this show is. Only time will tell and considering it's already been renewed, there's room to improve; for all, I know the last batch of episodes might show this.
