I remember hearing a lot of scathing reviews about this episode and its considered the worst because it's seen as obnoxious and annoying and basically a Lady Gaga vehicle, but personally I hated this episode when I saw it simply because it's one of the most boring episodes in the history of the show.

I don't consider it the episode that killed Lisa or whatever because there already was episodes before this that completely derailed her such as "Dude, Where's My Ranch?" and "On a Clear Day, I Can't See My Sister". It's just if you compare this compared to something like the Season 1 episode "Moaning Lisa", it's just obvious the show has gone so far away from what the show was, it just doesn't understand who Lisa is or for that matter the rest of the characters are anymore!

Speaking of "Moaning Lisa", this episode to me is like a terribly written version of that episode. "Moaning Lisa" is simply to me at least about depression at a time whem it was rarely ever a focal point in the media. It's about how Lisa feels sad and her family around her being well meaning in trying to help her end up making things worse because they don't understand and you get the feeling Lisa doesn't understand it either. It may not be as funny as episodes from the seasons that followed, but it's written in such a way that I felt really spoke to me. It establishes the heart and ernestness of the characters very early on.

Here, nothing really makes sense. Lisa is depressed because everyone around her is a jerk for no reason whatsoever. For some ridiculous reason they present her with the 'Least Popular Studant' because.... reasons. There's no subtlety to it whatsoever. On top of that it's a boring episode because nothing of note really happens and the so-called jokes are unfunny to the point where the show isn't even recognizable anymore. It's like as if its an entirely different show where they steal the name 'The Simpsons' and plagiarize every character and we end up with an episode that doesn't resemble anything about the classic show whatsoever, and thats why this episode is so awful and such a chore to get through.

The biggest problem with the Lady Gaga appearance other than the obvious problem that she dominates the entire episode is that it does absolutely nothing interesting with her at all. A lot of episodes have used celebrities either as a voice actor for a memorable one-off character or as a total parody of themselves, such as Michael Jackson and James Wood and many of those appearances are fantastic. We already knew Lady Gaga built her image on her crazy fashion and every joke here seems to be about what kind of crazy costume is she wearing now. It is just so tedious and unfunny it becomes painful. She has psychic powers for some reason and it just does nothing funny with it whatsoever. I actually do think Lady Gaga is a talented artist, but it doesn't change the fact that the songs here are some of the worst and most obnoxious in the show's history.

Lisa Goes Gaga is a completely soulless episode that simply doesn't go anywhere.
