Russian Doll

Season 2

When Season 1 of this premiered back in 2019, everyone was crazy about it! It was the talk of the town and I caught it once the buzz faded but it was there for a while. Then I remembered, that was the 2010s when the Netflix strategy was seen as unbreakable. Now in 2022, this season came and went, not a single bit of buzz with even the Emmys shutting it out even though it was stacked with nominations back in 2019. Anyways, it's interesting to discuss this considering the tides have certainly changed for Netflix shows (even Ozark lost its steam when it aired both halves of its final season, with people discussing Euphoria or another weekly series instead).

Anyways, this season is actually pretty solid even though the first season should've been a limited series (I'm not sure what the likeliness of a renewal considering Lyonne is doing a new series for Peacock and as said above, Netflix didn't get the buzz and that's what sells according to their algorithm). The filmmaking is wild and of course we get some wild twists and turns. It's solid and definitely better than the newest outings of other shows I saw this year (it's been rough for stuff like For All Mankind). Anyways, it's definitely overlooked but that's what happens when you've been on hiatus for so long (though that was out of this show's control). Solid.
