Black Adam 2022

A fun, nonstop action superhero film with a couple of horror elements. Coming from the director of Orphan, House of Wax, and The Shallows, I was pretty optimistic knowing that this film's helm by a horror director. I'm glad it turns out epic. This is a solid introduction of the antihero into the DCEU. It's packed with action and the ability to mix the drama, comedy, and up-high action feels so smooth and effortless, reminding me of the great Shazam! which also comes from another horror director. This film gets bigger in scale and generally feel more grandiose thanks to the amazing action sequences and explosions. I know most superhero films have those things, but in here they're at the right amount. Story-wise, it's not as generic as I was expecting and the titular character surprisingly has more personality than Superman and Batman combined. Those two guys from the Justice Society make this more fun. Perhaps the slow-motion is a bit too much for my taste, otherwise, this is a very entertaining watch.
