The X-Files

Season 10

Chris Carter firebombs The X-Files with a Season 10 miniseries that throws out the series mythology and begins anew. Fox Mulder and Dana Scully rejoin the FBI and reopen the X-Files division after an investigative journalist named Tad O'Malley exposes the Syndicate’s true agenda. However, the show quickly becomes episodic, following a monster-of-the-week format, and doesn’t really have an over-arcing storyline. In addition to David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis and a few others reprise their roles from the original series. And there are some nice homages and callbacks that help to create a familiar feel. Season 10 of The X-Files has its moments, but overall it’s a weak revival that doesn’t accomplish much.
