Black Adam 2022

In a world where Marvel movies often tarnish their plots with silly and tasteless jokes, it's welcome to see products from the DC Comics cinematic universe that don't waste their time with them. And Black Adam is a clear example of this.
Which is a bit of a shock considering that its star and producer, Dwayne Johnson, is a regular in such family films. However, Black Adam is brutal, bloody and raw, and yet it doesn't dwell on those details in order to appeal to the widest possible audience. It's a good balance.

Overall the film is excellent: the locations and sets, not to mention the pacing, are top notch. It also offers a good amount of canonical comic book characters in a quick and generous way with fight scenes that you've come to expect in films like this. The BSO is powerful, however the choice of popular songs for certain montages breaks that atmosphere and I consider it a very poor choice.

A different film for a different character - oh, and there's a post-credits scene!
