@pdoom I came here to say exactly what you've said, but you have beat me to it.
I'd just add that as long as the viewer understands that this is a piece of pro-USA propaganda designed to a feed a mindless patriotism, then by definition the viewer is not mindless, and can enjoy it for the excellent post-apocalyptic combat porn which it is. I for one see blind patriotism as a disease and normally detest such shows. But I love "end of the world" stories so much that this show gets a pass.
It's a solid 7 on that basis.
Mindless patriots will rate it higher.
Those who can't see beyond the propaganda will rate it lower.

Cloyingly patriotic and occasionally predictable, but a solid premise with good writing and engaging action. Occasional forays into "thriller" territory with non-physical conflicts.
Overall worth watching.
