@isamazing everything you said! And more - scenes like that exist as a stepping stone, or a page or whatever metaphor people need, to get to the next scene - to have the next set of events set in motion. Otherwise they won't.
I kept trying to predict things - i usually do with movies. Idk why it was difficult with this one, it was just such a weird one

I honestly believe that people saying that the police interaction didn't seem real at all have never been to downtown Los Angeles or in any area full of meth heads. When you are around an area that is populated with nothing but drug additcs for 10 min of your life you will understand why cops (or anyone else) wouldnt take serious someone talking shit in the middle of a drug corner.
That being said, I loved the movie. Specially the fact that it totally tricked me every time I thought I knew what would happen.
