Kevin Smith returns to the well one last time to bid a fond farewell to the characters that started it all in Clerks III. After having a heart attack, Randal is inspired to make a film about the wacky antics that have happen at the Quick Stop convenience store throughout the years. Those familiar with Smith will recognize the film’s meda commentary on the making of the original Clerks; and to that end, a number of scenes from the first film are recreated with the original actors. And while there are the usual raunchy sex jokes, the tone is weightier and darker than the previous films; with Dante grieving over the loss of his family and Randall facing his own mortality. Perhaps the most personal of Smith’s films, Clerks III is a loving homage to the making of that first film and the characters that we’ve all come to love.
