Season 3 = Star Trek the Next Generation Season 8! Wow this was an outstanding season, and a perfect cap to the STTNG fans out there, I loved it so much that I binged the entire season in a couple of evenings. My wife found out about the extension of STTNG and wanted to watch it with me, so I queued up all of the pertinent episodes from Next Generation as a lead into Picard season 3 as a perfect way to round everything out and it's a great experience.
Even though the Next Gen cast are all in their 70's+, you almost totally forget that in this season. Even Picard is more vibrant than he was in seasons 1 and 2 and Riker doesn't look like he's changed at all, with the exception of the gray.
And much to my surprise and pleasure, they didn't continue the 7 of 9 lesbian arc, I figured it might get most of the attention since they decided to go that route, but instead they did what they should always do: entertain and not preach their agenda. I could, literally, delete seasons 1 and 2 of Picard and just keep season 3 as a STTNG season 8.
If you are a next generation fan then you'll absolutely LOVE this season. It's got vibrant Picard, tough Riker, a toned down Troy, a silly chunky Data with a convenient excuse why an ageless android is old and fat now, a better Worf than the original, an over plasticized Crusher and BORG! It's a perfect ending.
