Silly? Absolutely! Defying physics? Probably! But it's a start Trek tradition. Most of the time I like these episodes. They offer actors the opportunity to experiment. SM Kira is great. It serves another purpose: it's another glimpse into DS9's past. Aside the novelty, this isn't the best of the parallel universe episode though. In later iterations they cleverly interconnect both universes. This story is simpler. Quite entertaining nonetheless. Dark too. The solutio is also a bit too convenient. I mean, perhaps there's a deeper meaning. Something like "what would we have become if things were different" but that's not really elaborated on.
