Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: Season 3

3x08 Meridian

As soon as this planet popped up, I immediately remembered how bad this episode was. Yes, it's a great adventure and Star Trek isn't a stranger to the strangest phenomena. And yes, perhaps this was exciting the first time I watched this episode. But every time I re-watch this episode, my hate grows. All that I see is a very strange Jedzia. Sure, she likes her adventures (this includes men) and time will be perceived differently by her but I don't buy it for the simple reason that she's still a science office and she barely knows this guy. I would have even preferred if this guy were a ugly alien with a transparent skull. That would have been at least somewhat funny. What were the writers thinking? I know what they were thinking: Jedzia is beautiful and that's why she needs an "amour fou" (if steamy sex wasn't allowed back then in syndicated TV). Plus, romance isn't exactly the strength of the franchise. Especially, if they want to tell a romantic story in just one episode. Worst part: the final scene when Dax is about to suffocate ... (Only good scene is the Jedzia-Banjamin goodbye).

Even the B -plot, which sometimes rescue episodes, is weak. It's also about steamy sex. But it's also very strange....
