A lot of the set design is EXTREMELY accurate. I was just in the real Stasi HQ a few days ago (now a museum) and the sets used in the show look EXACTLY like the real places. It was a bit odd to see a TV show set in the 80s and realize you were just standing in the same spot. Same wallpaper on the wall, same chairs around the table, same details...
