The Satan Pit for the most part was a solid conclusion to this two-parter. We see more of Sanctuary Base crew and deepen their characterization even further. By the end of the episode I had genuinely really connected to Zach, Toby, Ida, Captain Jefferson and Danny. They were so compelling I wouldn't mind seeing more from them in a prequel story. This connection to the characters made their progressive losses and their desperation to escape all the more palpable.

Where the episode unravelled a bit for me was when we started getting into the minutia of Satan's plans. It came to a head when the Doctor confronted Satan (a big red CGI monster with horns) and attempted to string together his escape plan. Not only was this scene horrifically edited with random cuts and close ups but the more time spent dwelling on the logistics of how Satan was captured and how he planned to escape the less sense the premise of the episode made.

They manage to tease out a conclusion that while silly/convenient was satisfying so I won't hold too much against the story. But damn that ending really could have been tightened up. Overall it was a pretty solid episode. I even liked the metaphysical questions about belief and the true nature of Satan. So The Satan Pit is still pretty high in my esteem in the end.
