OK crime show - but lacked many of the elements that made Justified so great. I recently re-watched the whole series and it is just excellent. So it was nice to have a new installment in the series.

But…

  1. Series works best in Harlan. Even in original series gets less interesting when venturing out of Harlan.

  2. The best bad guys are Harlan locals. Mags ‘you choose the devil you run with’ Bennett especially. Clement and Sandy were both just kinda sad and stupid more than the vibrant, intelligent, scary and complex protagonists of original series. And Albanians are not competent enough.

  3. Dialogue - Raylan & protagonists did not have enough good dialogue. That is what really makes Justified such an enjoyable watch. Snappy and entertaining exchanges. We get a little bit in exchange with Albanian mob boss. But just a reminder of how the writing is lacking.
Also what makes Raylan Gives such a cool character - he is very competent in his job - and he always have a great line.
This is the series that gave us:
    ‘Next ones coming faster’
‘Ever hear the saying you run into an asshole in the morning, you ran into an asshole. You run into assholes all day, you're the asshole?’
And bad guys likewise - Boyd being being best example ‘I been accused of being a lot of things. Inarticulate ain’t one of them.’

  4. Too many innocents getting wiped out and not enough ‘shitkicker-on-shitkicker crime’.

  5. Not enough eccentric and fun side characters. The list in Justified is soo long - but special mention to Wynn Duffy, Tim, Dewey Crowe, Dickie Bennett, Arlo, Bob, Boon, Zachariah etc etc. Only one that came close in City Primeval was Sweetie.

  6. The last 15 minutes of final episode are great tho. And nice to see Raylan got a proper house/home.
