Five Night’s at Freddy’s isn't here to reinvent the wheel, but what it is here to do is to help Universal stay ahead with the soon to arrive Video Game Adaptation era of Hollywood (it’s coming!) , with a genuinely haunting story (that we unfortunately don’t get much of in this particular film until the third act) this could go on to be a very surprising sleeper hit franchise.
There were certainly moments where it felt like it was a bit of a slog, overall however if you are a fan of the games or just of the story and lore as I am, I think you’ll have a frighteningly good time.
Definitely a perfect Halloween watch if you have any younger teens who you want to watch a horror movie with, without the excessive gore, nudity or jump scares.
A very solid effort, 8/10 I hope we get sequels where they can really begin to get into the nitty gritty details of the genuinely chilling and distressing story.
