I'm not exactly sure how i feel about this episode, and the two part beginning of this season.

The episode feels constrained, stretched apart by the desire to create a standalone two parter and resolve it, but also be part of a larger arc.

The whole faking their deaths to get information felt a bit unncessary, when they could have just worked together normally. But i'll roll with it.

The silence have been influencing people to do what they want? All we saw was some confused guy helping to care for a kid.

The silence who wanted to look after the kid and even still give her independence?

We saw on the kids desk a photo of Amy and her child already been born, so we know the kid is probably Amy's child. And there's somehow a photo that was taken? And still with her? How is this all going to make sense? Why didn't Amy ask the doctor why they kidnapped her? And her pregnancy is unstable/there and not there?

And these silence have been the scourge of the universe?

They're not even that strong. A few gun shots and the creature was on the ground injured.

And they supposedly made humanity want to go to the moon to make a spacesuit? Way to limit the human desire alone to go to the moon. And all to make a spacesuit?

But i thought the spacesuit was really advanced, too advanced for 1960s technology?

I liked the way of defeating the silence, even though as someone else pointed about it's basically genocide on a race that didn't interfere much with humanity.

River is hot. And cool. That's all.

I mean i enjoyed the episode and the character interactions and finding out more about the silence. The creature design is pretty creepy along with their ability, and it's nice the ways the doctor and companions are keeping track of when they see them.

But i feel in trying to set up a larger arc, it didn't make these two episodes stand up enough on their own in regards to their central narrative, along with the confusion in the episode about certain things and how we think the mysteries are going to be resolved.
