OK, even if the story has been turned to shit and totally emptied of meaning, I got to admit I didn't expect the fights to look this good.
Well Kurama vs Karasu mainly, was actually very very good. It seemed to me that it should have been way harder to pull off than not fucking up a good story... For fan service it manages to include actions from several of Kurama's tournament fights.

However since there has been no character development whatsoever, not only have we not seen any of the bad guys performance before, making them just random - in the manga it's a huge surprise both when we finally discover how Karasu explodes people, and when Bui removes his armor - but the heroes abilities are actually unknown also - again, in the manga it's a huge surprise the first time Kurama
returns to his Yoko form
(even for him), and when Hiei finally masters
the Black Dragon
.

Both Hiei and Kurama were demons that have been considerably weakened to get into the human world. At a level where they could be Yusuke's first mission target (and later his teammates), at a moment where he is barely more than a human teenager that is good in a street fight. And since nothing has happened since (a few days has passed). Well, how could they be powerful now ?
But ok, for the sake of this adaptation, let's assume they are actually already secretly hugely powerful.

But Kuwabara ? He's a regular human, less good than Yusuke in a human fight. He might have awakened a kind of spirit power, but 1) he never used it yet, 2) he never fought a non human enemy, 3) his whole training was hitting a rock with a wooden sword. He has literally 0 fighting experience.

Elder Toguro is not badly rendered. The effect to make him small always looks a bit weird, but better than making him regularly sized like Hiei and Genkai.
