Grimsburg: Season 1

1x01 Pilot

A deliciously twisted yet somehow, fairly predictable debut. Pretty awesome cast of voice talent, so, I'm willing to give it at least a few episodes to see where it goes.

@paladin5150 Think I'll skip Grimsburg, but I will watch the Dave and Pete stand-up specials you watched recently.

Question: How long after you started watching Bob's Burgers before you found out Bob also voiced Miss LaBonz and Jimmy Pesto Jr.?

And, have you seen, "Lucy: The Daughter of the Devil?" Where H. Jon Benjamin voices Satan, Special Father #1, and occasionally narrates? (Eugene Mirman voices the Nun, "Special Sister.") Loren Bouchard created both Lucy & Bob's (hard to remember at this point Bob's was originally about family owned burger joint that used human meat, a la Sweeney Todd). Be warned, "Lucy," is dark humor - really bad cgi animation, but good writing and voices.

I haven't seen, "Home Movies," yet.

I've also, slowly, been watching, "Horace and Pete," because Kurt Metzger's in it... I won't say it's enjoyable, but I have been emotionally satisfied (8 or 9 out of 10). More like a Shakespearean tragedy, or, rather a modern stage play (Alan Alda, Louie CK, Steven Wright, Steve Buscemi, Jessica Lange).

Lastly, I recommend "Eugene Mirman: Vegan on His Way to the Complain Store" (2015)

I didn't need to enable DRM or have an account, and I use Firefox w/uBlock Origin but don't think that matters (but it might've been why I didn't get commercials).

@vwfringe - Good to hear from you. You really should give Grimsburg a try, it's pretty funny in a "dark" comedic way. Have you checked out "3 Body Problem" yet? I had no knowledge of the previous movie nor the book, but I found the current visual iteration quite interesting, although the Chicom's are apparently not to happy about it's (accurate) portrayal of the "Cultural genocide..., er, revolution".

True, there's now a plethora of sites to see content sans commercials or having to pony up sub fees. BestSeries, My Flixerx are what I use, and, yes, it's good to have UBlock or AdBlocker installed to screen out the BS. There's even an entire Adblock BROWSER now that blocks almost all the nefarious actors, although some sites are starting to figure workarounds to try to sneak in pop unders, and other such nonsense.

Nah man, I try to avoid shows / content) that specifically GLORIFIES demonic / satanic evil. No Judgement, but, It just feels like bad Juju to me. As the old saying goes, " if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.” While Neitzsche may be legitimately viewed as problematic these days for his sometimes misogynistic and anti semitic views, (oddly cheered by the "woke" crowd recently), he wasn't far off the mark with that thought.

In any case, it's good to know you're still out there, and thriving, so, as was often said by my favorite Vulcan, "Live long and prosper", Peace and long life.

@paladin5150 Oh, don't tease me like that.... You need to give me the swole URL fur bestseries & my flixerx, it's not like Skynet (google) will yield usable results anymore, and even reddit piracy's lists of sites are old.
I've been using:
flixtor dot to (when they're not full & if it's new content)
primewire dot tf
fmoviesz dot to (my go to, but primewire when there's latency)
soaper dot tv (clone of soap2day which closed)
bstsrs dot one (found BBC's Famalam w/Samson Kayo, but some server choices are nested three layers in)

I used to use a privacy browser called Libre Wolf, but it's too strict. With Firefox I use Container Tabs (Facebook Container), and Cookie Auto-Delete so I can white-list some sites and keep cookies across restarts.

Lucy doesn't glorify demonic or satanic evil, quite the opposite. It's heretical, yes. Jesus for instance has come back and prefers to be called hesus - he's a DJ so it MC Jesus. H. Jon Benjamin plays Satan, and he's always trying to corrupt Jesus in one episode where MC Jesus is trying to get to Burning Man... it's lifted from the story of Temptation on the Mount or the temptation of Jesus from the New Testament, but Jesus isn't biting even as the offers escalate and Jesus talks Satan into driving him to Burning Man, which is experiencing a dust storm until he shows up (oh, and,Judas is Jesus' vlog cameraman and roadie). The Sister and two Priests (Fathers) have been dispatched from the Vatican to kill the anti-Christ but they keep missing the overnight package delivery of holy relics that can pierce the heart of the anti-Christ (pickle forks from the last meal). Hilarity ensues, but... I like South Park also, and Satan figured into some of their episodes. The only show that even sort of fits what you've described that I've seen in the last ten years was one episode of, "Salem," where witches are slaves to satan - fuck that shit. I don't know about Nietzsche, but "Lovecraft Country" brought into focus how racist HP Lovecraft was - once I researched and read a bit - I already knew about the Tulsa Massacre from watching "DemocracyNow.org" over the past ten years.

I only suggest Lucy because I know you enjoy Bob's Burgers, and each ep's runtime is eleven minutes.

I'll do as you suggest and give Grimsberg a shot, 'prolly good I have zero expectations. And, one ep of three body problem won't kill me since you seem to like it so much... before it came out I read through a bunch of reviews of the books and decided against watching it. And, when Trakt or IMDb ratings are lower than 7.5 I tend to believe people.

Do you ever watch "The Jimmy Dore Show?"

And, with all the weaponization of identity politics coming out of the media, the government and Our Shadowy Overlords, I've looked for a small measure of objective truth and found I trust Anton Petrov (Rumble, Odysee or YT). He picks a few of the latest scientific papers out of the twenty or thirty published and explains one in ten or twelve minutes. Over the last several years he's given me a good understanding of space and science - and, even though science doesn't say, "this is true," it at least says, "this is what we think at this time, stay curious."
