5.5/10. The bit with Punchy is the only thing that really saves this episode. I like the perspective flipping, with Ted feeling like his old friend is a burnout townie who never got out of Cleveland, when it turns out that Punchy's entire reason for coming to NYC was to cheer Ted up because in Punchy's mind, Ted doesn't have the things that he has and that makes him worry. Josh Radnor rarely blows me away with his acting, but he does a really nice job showing how touched Ted is to be asked to be Punchy's best man. It saves an otherwise pretty broad part of the episode that nevertheless fits with the "friends grow apart" theme.

The Robin-Lily story really didn't do much for me. This is my least favorite of the Robin Sparkles episodes, if only because the innuendo-filled kids show is a pretty damn lame source of humor. On the slightly more serious side, the story with Lily and Robin each thinking the other is going to dump them once a baby is born doesn't have that touch of realness and humanity that helps to anchor the show with storylines like these. Instead it's all broad Robin Sparkles stuff with yet another stilted popstar cameo tacked on. What can you do?
