I wasn't crazy about this movie. It was good, and you can definitely get hints of where Kurosawa would be heading. Maybe I just didn't like seeing Mifune as a sick dude wobbling around. I like him scowling and intense and yelling and stuff. I did like seeing a colorful role for Shimura to play, a guy who generally takes a backseat to Mifune as Kurosawa's leading man but to that I say...Ikiru. Come on. Ikiru!
