I mean geez you'd think a movie about porn would at least be interesting and not have a plot that's also as deep as a porn video.
Unfocused and lazy, About Cherry is a poorly made film that’s kind of pretentious. There’s not much of a plot: a teen runaway heads to San Francisco and gets involved in the pornography industry. However, as provocative as the material is the film doesn’t seem to know what it wants to say about it. The cast features Ashley Hinshaw, James Franco, and Heather Graham, but the material limits them. Bland and superficial, About Cherry is uninspired and pointless.
Not a bad movie and with a interesting diferent look at what porn is and who's on the screen.
The movie is actually interesting till they suddenly wrap it up to a sudden and "kinda pointless and inconclusive" ending... the last 5-10minutes could be rewritten and this movie would totally be better rated than it is...
What was the point of this movie?!?!? What a waste of time!!! give it a miss

About Cherry starts off great, with its dark, indie-drama realism, and it keeps the momentum, but failed to stick the landing.
We follow Angelina, as she leaves her toxic home life in search of a better future. She quickly gets involved in porn, and I figured the movie was going to continue into a downward spiral until we hit a hopeless ending - like Requiem for a Dream. In a twist that would surprise M. Night Shyamalan, Angelina turns out just fine. Yeah, everything works out, and she's happy.
This is not a bad movie, in fact, I liked most of it, but the writing was so lazy, and the ending felt tacked on.
I also think the movie lacked the courage to fully discuss certain themes that were implied, but never explicitly mentioned.
Heather Graham was good here, but her character was given too much screen time; this wasn't Margaret's story.
Was there nudity? Absolutely! Was there as much as I thought there would be, given that this is an indie drama about porn? No. Although, Ashley Grace makes up for quantity with quality.
Don't expect Boogie Nights. Don't expect a bleak and hopeless outcome. Don't expect graphic sex.
I really think this could have been great if Angelina faced more conflict. I liked her character, and it's not terrible that she made it out okay. However, from a storyteller perspective, she needed more obstacles.
