Amazing!!! It fits very well in the Scott-Alien-verse since 1979 then Prometheus in 2012, and Covenant goes right dab in the middle!! Top notch film, great director of photography/cinematographer, Dariusz Wolski (known for the Pirates of the Caribbean movies)!!!!!!!
So Covenant picks up about 10 years after Prometheus.... so David is by far my favourite and most interesting character through these films.. And my god... what... a cliffhanger... I cant wait to see what David is going to do with those embryos.
So much Improvement from the first, and lot more action, good to know more of the story be hide Ailen. Sweet casting, Cool effects. More darker. A good watch. ;)
Good but not great.
I didn't like the story-line core aspect in this one but it's good, just not great.
7.5/10 for me
I didn't like the idea that the android had this obsession of creating life.
This movie is great in some ways, but just wrong in others. The lead up to the initial climax was pretty amazing. It was nice to see the gore and horror that the original Alien(s) brings, which was lacking from Prometheus.
Though, after this, the story begins to go down hill. The characters are one dimensional, normally walking freely to their predictable death. Additionally, the ending was very off-putting, as it didn't feel like it fit into the grand scale of the Alien universe. It was like they were trying to get all philosophical in how people or things were created, that they dropped the ball in the process.
(Spoiler Heavy)I would have gave it **** if I didn't see the twist coming a mile away. Otherwise Alien: Covenant is the best since Alien and Aliens.
I just felt like Elizabeth Shaw (Noomi Rapace) got the Hicks and Newt Alien 3 treatment. David (Michael Fassbender) proves here that he's the key character of these movies. We don't root for people to survive though just for them to die off screen. Who says Scott won't do that again with the 3rd film.
I enjoyed most the movie but a lot of people die because they were stupid. When some creepy Android says "follow me, I want to show you something." You don't go especially if that creepy Android is David.
So I felt like their were some horror cliches. Especially with "the everything is fine...oh wait no it's not!" typical horror movie ending.
I am not exactly defending why Alien: Covenant is one of the best though. The film is engaging and interesting during it's slow moments. I enjoyed learning more of why David does what he does.
I like that he actually says "curiosity killed the cat!" Since that's what I was thinking about him. His curiosity is very dangerous. The film does skip the whole "who created us ?" plot of Prometheus. However, David is the creator these films is interested in. It's about creation. Not ours though. The xenomorphs....
I find that intriguing and is why my Thumb is up.
Finally an Alien movie that's about as good as Alien and Aliens. The cast is excellent, especially Michael Fassbender. While slow at times there's still plenty of scares and violence. I would give the film a higher rating if I didn't see the ending coming a mile away.
The movie was really great. The story was just amazing! Although I did not like how they ended Elizabeth Shaw's story. I loved the character in Prometheus and find it so sad, to see her go like this :(
the fans of the alien franchine are gonna love this one. Maybe this sequence is the best since the original 1 and 2. it has some boring moments, but the movie brings back some old classic moves and the finale is very interesting. Michael Fassbender shines again, and delivers a great performance . Ridley just proves that the alien franchise is more alive than ever and will continue to be for a long time.
The trailers didn't do this movie justice at all. Alien fans were expecting another generic slasher with no answers and no ties to Prometheus. But that wasn't the case at all! Covenant was a great continuation of Prometheus, and the plot itself combines elements from all Alien films making for the most thrilling and gruesome Alien film i have ever seen. Brilliant.
@RiGHT because these votes and comments are always total bullshit since they're not moderated in any way
@asystemoverload yeah, that was my expression as well. I hope to see the topic of the Engineers expored more.

It is hard reviewing any of these movies based on the fact each movie is just adding to the story of Alien. In my opinion this movie flowed nicely with all the film's and added some great twist. Was the acting amazing, no not really. Did the plot keep you guess till the end, no way in hell. Is it a movie for people that love space and the unknown, A BIG YES. Add in some Aliens hungry for human flesh, and a robot that loves playing God, why not.
