Totally underrated movie. It's way more fun than any of the reviews stated. It's not a brilliant movie, nor is it a classic for the ages, but a solid effort and a funny one at that. The Rock, Zack and Alexandra are great, and the rest of the cast doesn't shy away either, though some of them deserved a little more screen time. Point is, sometimes a movie doesn't take itself too serious, and that is a good thing. Sometimes the important thing is just to have fun. And I definitely had fun with this one.
The plot may be a little too over the top, and the villain might be a little to much at some point, but the action and the stunts are solid, and the jokes work most of the time. It may not be the perfect comedy, but it is worth a watch. Good sunday afternoon movie, to watch with friends, having a couple of laughs.
Wasn't as bad as ppl made it out to be. I've seen worse & I've seen way better. Had a good cast. I love The Rock in anything! Zac Effron, great actor. Even in this!
What a shitty movie!!! Don't waste your time as I'm not going to waste anymore time writing about this shitty movie!!
Regrettable in all its aspects.
Did I just watch a movie? or a concert/musical? I think i heard about 60 songs the entire movie.
I was counting 5 songs already after only the first 10 minutes.
I haven't laughed once! bad acting! Stupid jokes! I felt zero connection with the actors!
It was a HORRIBLE movie and i hated every second of it.
I really like this movie for what it is. The jokes are rather funny, the script is way out there and the cast works.
It's not taking itself serious and going in with that mindset as well sure gives a lot of chuckles.
Ps. Lots of penises!
Turned off after 10 minutes.
Total disaster... I don't believe that I watched it...
Campy, cheesy and slow-mo heavy, Baywatch hits the big screen with a new cast and a different feel. The Hoff's chest hair is replaced by Dwayne Johnson's mountainous muscles and Michael Newman's mustache is replaced by Zac Efron's impossibly toned physique. Pammy may not be around, but the Baywatch babes remain. The ridiculousness of the TV series is still present, just ramped up a bit more. The TV series had the Baywatch crew getting into situations far beyond their control, but always saving the day, and the movie doesn't deviate from this track - there's illegal drug trafficking on the beaches and waters of Emerald Bay, Florida and the protectors of the Bay are on it. The acting is fine and captures the cheese and sleaze required. The CGI is laughably bad throughout, especially during the flaming boat scene, and the use of green screen sticks out like a sore thumb. The plot becomes over-the-top as the lifeguards are constantly three steps ahead of the police in their investigations and manage to get themselves into any situation they require, but without each member having a certain set of skills then we'd have no movie. The action scenes are a bit of a mess, but they're still good popcorn-shovelling entertainment.
Efron looks like a bad Ufc weight cut and the Rock shoulda dropped the People's elbow on his agent lol
Nothing special. Rather silly, but it's always nice to see Dwayne :D
The plot sucks. If you want to shut your brain down and watch some muscle, boobs and ass than watch the movie.
I figured this movie would be shit after watching the trailer.
I don't understand how Zac Efron keeps getting acting gigs.
Expected this to be really bad but i honestly laughed for much of the film.....The Rock and Zac Enron work good together but don’t take the film seriously just enjoy it....hope it gets a sequel which i know it won’t
Don't listen to these stupid bad reviews!
This film has had so many bad reviews and I honestly don't have a clue why. I went to see this film yesterday with my mom and we absolutely loved it! It had so much to offer, funny and entertaining from beginning to end. The acting was fantastic and the actors in this really know how to keep you entertained.
The film was hilarious, action packed, very sexy and the story line was brilliantly planned out. The way you have to follow the character of Matt Brody played by Zac Efron is great and makes you want to stay and see what happens. At the end of the day these bad reviews and scores this film is getting really confuses me, this is the best film I have seen in such a long time and I can't wait for Baywatch 2!
If you are some serious guy, don't watch this movie. Its not for you.
Idk why people take it way too serious commenting on this movie though.
The scene at the morgue are way hell too funny for me. I almost choked on saliva while binging on this particular scene lmao.
Last but not least, if you find yourself enjoying this movie, try watching The Interview, Jump Street, and Get Him To The Greek too.
There are many others but I loved these three ❤
Alexandra Daddario and Kelly Rohrback make this film everything that it is. Add the rock and you have an enjoyable, fun film. Don't take it too seriously and enjoy the laughs. The plot runs a little thin at times, but the visuals make up for it.
Awful effects. Good jokes, bad jokes. No one can save it from drowning in our list of forgettable remakes/reboots.
This was a shit-show movie for sure . rotten tomatoes were totally right on their judgement on this movie.
Is it worth it? It depends on you.
Are you stressed out, beaten up by life and long for a braindead session of couples hours with occasional laugh and sexist remarks. Then wait no more, this movie is for you.
On serious note :
I really tried to LOL and I'm big fan of the Rock. But this movie needs to be left dead and stayed dead 15 years ago.
For the ones who don't want to see the movie themselves but want to know what is it about:
A bunch of lifeguards try to be the police and investigate drugs smuggling, after a couple people die under suspicious events. Everyone tells them not to do that, but they have zero f*cks to give. Bring everyone in trouble.
A couple of fart-giggle-shit-boom-wow jokes later, you see some male genitals of living and the dead people being touched by the lifeguards. And then the finale.
Dwayne takes a fireworks tube and blows Priyanka Chopra to pieces. She does try to talk dirty through the whole movie, though and swears a lot at her two studges who f*ck up everything for her.
2/5 stars
I have to say I laughed hard when they announced a Baywatch movie. The TV-series was a bunch of tits and ass taking itself way to serious. The series had nothing going for it except the overly pretty eye-candy characters, the über slow-mo boob bounce, and some, actually kinda cool, music montages. Who wants to make a movie out of THAT...
Well...someone did...and it actually kinda worked.
The movie is quite different than the TV-Series...it doesn't even TRY to take itself seriously, and it even makes fun of itself and the old series. It's a comedy...plain and simple...even a good comedy most of the time.
The dialogue is kinda awful, but the story is acceptable, and the action is great. The actors do a decent enough job with the material given, but I suspect there were a few too many times things were improvised...and it shows.
...and YES...there's a lot of beautiful bodies on display. Don't complain...it wouldn't be anything like Baywatch if they weren't there...
I had no expectations to this movie what so ever...and I put off watching it for months. Today I took the leap, and you know what...I was pleasantly surprised. It's watchable as an action comedy. Don't go out of your way, but if you can catch it...do.
I definitely thought this movie was going to be cheesy at first, but it turned out to be very funny. I thought a lot of the jokes in the movie flowed very smoothly and made it seem natural rather than being made to seem like the actors are trying to be funny. I would not mind seeing this again in theatres.
Definitely go see this with a group of your friends, its pretty much just a not as good 22 Jump Street. Still a fun time but don't have your brain on during this or you may get annoyed by plot holes.
This so-called comedy is dead in the water. The tv show was inexplicably popular - probably amongst teenagers and dirty old men - and this film is only going to appeal to that same audience.
I honestly don't know why everyone hated it.. wasn't that bad had some good laughs in it and enjoyed it and didn't think I was going to
Actually worse than I expected. This is what I get for letting someone else pick a random movie when we decided to toss one on at 23:00. Some reboot films are merely disappointing, but this movie? I want my two hours back.
Well, not all of it, since I did have fun prying open a bunch of holes in the script. Even pissed off the one who picked this movie, who was trying to take it seriously (seriously?!) and get immersed in the story (what story?!?!).
But the special effects are a joke. I thought the computer-generated fire in The Last Ship's latter seasons was awful, but this movie snatched that crown away handily. So bad…
To top it all off, the "graphic nudity" promised by the MPAA's "R" rating was only an unnecessarily long joke about Zac Efron touching a dead man's penis. If I'm gonna sit through a clunker like this, the least I could get out of it is some pretty tits!
I honestly wonder why any of the actors in this reboot of Baywatch agreed to do it. There are so many big-name stars here, and the script is clearly shite. They (or their agents) must have known what they were getting into, and still did it anyway.
The movie is one of my go to movies. Is it perfect? Absolutely not. Is it a cinematic marvel? Nope. But the movie offers funny and crude jokes that I enjoy, and I find funny. Many have bashed it, but I enjoy it, especially with a drink in hand. The movie is just fun. Relax, and enjoy the movie.
A truly silly movie. And a waste of time. I give this a 3 (bad) out of 10. [Action? Comedy?]
Baywatch doesn't take it self too seriously and neither should the audience. It's a very solid comedy film with a friendly and appealing cast followed by an handful of plots that actually makes one laugh.
The only drawback is the lack of Priyanka Chopra! Her talent gets clearly wasted as she makes one hell of a villain!
The fact that her character dies was also sad and pretty lame. Victoria Leeds deserved better.
There's a decent movie in here begging to get out
It felt more like a parody. Most of the jokes were about sex, like some teenage movie. Alexandra Daddario is so hot though. I really hope they won't do a sequel.
I really had a blast with this one! As did my wife. There are a lot of funny and embarrassing moments. Don't be a critic with this one... It's just fun.. go and enjoy it!
This movie is so stupid. But really enjoyable. It's trying to be 21/22 Jump Street, it's not as good but it'll make you laugh.
Alright, my beach bros, gather 'round because we need to talk. It's a bit embarrassing but let me try to explain what happened! So, grab something to drink because we're about to dive deep into the world of Zac-tastic Baywatch!
Imagine this: I'm all geared up, got my beach towel ready to roll, fully prepared to kick back, relax, and witness some classic Baywatch shenanigans. I mean, what could possibly go wrong, right? You know, people pretending to drown in three centimeters of water while others sprint along the sandy shores like they're auditioning for the Olympics in super slo-mo sprinting.
But hold onto your floaties, my boys, because then, like a sudden shark attack, I get hit hard by a manly wave of hunky Zac! And let me tell you, he didn't just gently hit me. The sight of that hunk of a guy slapped me out of my seat, leaving me completely spellbound and utterly in awe of his incredible body!
Now, while I'm sprawled on the ground in total shock, I start wondering if I've accidentally stumbled into a superhero movie. I mean, did I miss the memo about Zac getting jacked like a Greek god? So, there I am, desperately trying to catch my breath and haul myself off the floor, all while Zac's raw muscle power had me bowing down in respect, mentally planting a juicy smooch on his sixpack, on my way back to the seat.
I know, guys! But hear me out. This dude is such a masculine force that I had no choice. Don't even try to blame me. I'm right there with you, guys, sharing that same sense of disbelief. I was torn between keeping my eyes glued to the screen and whipping out a notepad to jot down on how to transform from 'Average Joe' to 'Zac-tacular' like our bad boy here. Seriously, the dude's pure power!
Okay, stay cool and don't lose it! I mean, those muscles are next-level insane, and it's like trying to resist a gravitational pull toward absolute awesomeness! I know, but no need to freak out! Wait, did someone say his sixpack?? It's as if it's slyly tempting us, softly hinting, "Don't even try to resist. Simply bow down and submit to this exquisitely sculpted masterpiece." Alright, let's stop the drooling, or we'll need to call in the lifeguards for a whole different kind of rescue mission!
Now, about the movie, "Baywatch" is the full package - action, humor, and a whole lot of beachside hotness. As I watched Zac flex and charm his way through the film, I couldn't help but think, "Dude, you've come a long way from the pretty 'High School Musical' boy to a ripped hunk." Zac's character brings the swagger and charisma that we all crave in action flicks. The chemistry between him and the rest of the crew adds that extra layer of fun and intrigue.
So, to break it down, "Baywatch" is one hell of a ride, and Zac's mind-blowing muscles are like a cherry on top. If you're into action, comedy, and some seriously jaw-dropping eye candy, this one's a must-watch. One more thing: Zac's ripped body deserves all the respect and admiration it commands! :muscle::fire::muscle:
Let's face it, at this point Dwayne Johnson can make pretty much any movie enjoyable.
This is a bad movie, but an enjoyable one.. it's fun to watch this movie poke fun at the Baywatch show. It's fun to watch Johnson have good chemistry with just about any actor ever. It's just fun..
Not as good as 21 jump Street imo but still... fun...
Gratuitous and has the ability to be funny in parts, but felt like they switched writers throughout and the awful one got most of the work. The actors try their best to elevate what is largely a B movie to its laughably charming source material but ends up somewhere stuck (ahem) in D(ick joke) movie purgatory.
Stay for Rohrbach's stunning beauty and the Rock's comedic chops and pass on everything else. 5.6 based on some of my other rankings, but it's closer to a 5 than a 6 level movie.
Fun, but not good. Could have been fun AND good with better writing but gave me what I needed for a mindless watch
Not great, didn’t really watch just had it running in the background as it lost my attention.
This movie would have rated higher if there was no dialogs at all like they open their mouths and talk but the audience hear nothing because, God, they're awful.
Summer Quinn: Why does she always look like she's running in slow-mo?
Ronnie Greenbaum: You see it too?
If you want dumb summer fun, than this movie does the trick. I don’t understand all the hate for it... it’s a Baywatch movie!
It has a couple of decent moments, but 'Baywatch' is mostly uninspiring.
For a comedy, it takes itself way too seriously in parts. None of the heartfelt stuff really lands, while a lot of the humour is over reliant on sexual innuendo. The premise is followable, if entirely predictable. The cast is oversized, way too many characters. Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron are good enough in their respective roles as Mitch and Matt.
Summer (Alexandra Daddario) and Victoria (Priyanka Chopra) are alright but underdeveloped, as is Stephanie (Ilfenesh Hadera). C. J. (Kelly Rohrbach) and Ronnie (Jon Bass), meanwhile, are annoying and extremely pointless. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Ellerbee) is solid in a small role.
I've never watched the original television series so maybe I missed a few callbacks etc., while there are two (incredibly forced) cameos from it. If it stayed at what it should be - a comedy - then I may have liked this, I simply didn't though.
Not terrible, but I still wouldn't say you should rush to see this.
There’s a couple of reasons why this movie doesn’t have a higher rating:
1. The use of CGI could have been better. Most of the explosions & fire looks cheap made.
2. This is a movie targeted for young people. Most of the reviewers try to judge this movie as the would an Oscars winner. It’s not the same.
3. Finally, comedy is a big part of the movie. And we know how reviewers are with comedy tv shows and movies.
In my opinion the movie is really good. It has an excellent cast that really fixes, for the most part, the holes and cheesiness of the plot. As I said before, this is not an "Oscar" type movie, but it's a "Nothing to do on Sunday" type. I hope there's a sequel, but at this point it's unlikely.
I thought it was good! Like, in a sense that it was enjoyable and fun to watch. I had a few laughs. Though I could say that there were parts that I didn't like, for example the really bad CGI burning yacht. lol. but all in all, I liked it.
I did not expect much of this movie, but I thought cool! Good fun!
If I could post the Game of Thrones walk of shame meme, I would....
Back again for another view! Love this movie.
This is the go to movie. So damn funny. Just enjoy the movie!
Back again for another watch. LOVE this movie.
Didnt except much, the movie was fun to watch. I couldnt look away for some reason. The movie had a lot of funny moments. I thought it was a good movie.
I thought this movie was gonna suck. But it was actually fun to watch, when i started i couldnt look away. It had a lot of funny scenes too.
Mitch Buchannon - “WOW. Ok. Looks like you got your beef and your biscuits stuck down there.”
LMAO
I’m trying to understand the reasoning behind the bad reviews. I’ve watched the original series, grew up with it in fact. The movie took the same approach as the show, granted with raunchier jokes, but spread it over 2 hours. They did it quite well imo. I really enjoy this movie. It’s become one of my movies I go to for mindless fun, or with a drink in hand. So if you are avoiding this movie based on reviews, give it a shot, you might be surprised.
And I’m back again. I love this movie.
no no nope no
they could at least have changed the names
big NO
amazing movie is the best
I haven't watched the original series, but I might now cause I'm really wondering if, just like Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, this sequel was made to be funnier and aiming more for amusement than the original piece. Regardless, I really enjoyed the movie and the plot. I loved the cast, and am really happy that they didn't stick completely strictly to having crazy-attractive-people-only set up (that one person made a big difference for me, his character really added little extra something to the movie). It was clear that the hotness of the characters was a big part and was highlighted a lot in this movie (as I was told the series was not much different, I mean hot bodies and perfect hair in intense show-off slow motion scenes), but there were quite a lot of really good comedy scenes and funny awkward moments (especially from Ronnie). The end of the movie was pretty brutal (I mean blowing someone up with fireworks...quite extreme) and the last scene was the combination of iconic and silliness. Was not disappointed.
They don't even run as good as in original series...
The best thing about this movie is how forgettable it is. I am all for movies that don't take themselves too seriously but this one is just meh.
It had some good jokes, some bad jokes, but overall it was just average and forgettable. The story, characters, or special effects weren't that good. The movie could have been way better all in all.
One of the best comedy movies I watched so far for this year, Dwayne jhonson rocks and the cast played awsome funny roles, this is a must watch movie!!
Better than expected... not laughs-per-minute but every few minutes. Completely unnecessary 'F-bombs" every 2 minutes. 6/10. I never watched the original TV show, so there's nothing for me to compare it to... other than the girls are hot.
I had so much fun tbh stupid movie but funny...8/10
it had its good moments... watchable...
This is mainly for fans of the show, it has nothing more to offer it isn't that much of an eye candy for the men. i wanted to see better cameos on this
what did i just watched?? its just awful
i am in love with this film
not so good and not so bad neither. it's just ok, with little comedy.
The Rock & Zac E anyday, anytime baby!. very funny movie with some ridiculous moments.
I was expecting ALOT shittier movie, not so bad, not so good, just ok
well... its not like the show was good, so its not a big loss that this kind of sucks.
Brainless movie if you want to have a chill brainless evening. Exactly what was to be expected: nothing.

Saw it at the Sneak Preview Night, and it was hilarious! Totally recommend it to both female and male alike. Whether you've seen the original show or not. I hadn't, but people seated next to me had, and they enjoyed it just as much.
