Casino Royale 1967

It's an early Austin Powers. Sort of. Well it's significantly worse. It's meant to be. It's a guilty pleasure though. It's not even funny in it's own right. It's only funny because you're reminded of all the absurdity in the 007 franchise. I guess you could slip in one or two scenes from this parody into one of the original movies and nobody would notice.

Oh yea! I love Casino Royale man. It's like one of the best films in the whole franchise if you ask me. I mean, this bad boy came out when I was still in high school and I remem-

Wait... what... no, this isn't right. I think this is like a fan edit joke or something. There's no way this is a film that was actually made. It's probably just a youtube thing that some kid made. Woody Allen? Peter Sellers? What are you guys doing in here? ORSON WELLS!? Get out of this movie people! This is a terrible mistake. OH GOD WHYYYYYY!!!!!????

Someone did tell Orson Wells that magic tricks don't work if you're cutting to two different angles in a movie? Right?

Like 7 back-to-back episodes of Benny Hill made worse with dialog.

This series of uneven and remarkably unfunny sketches demonstrates that assembling the industry's best directors and actors (and Woody Allen) doesn't guarantee a good movie.

Trust me, Daniel Craig's Casino Royale is funnier than this.

Often a bad movie will make me think “the next one will be good by comparison,” but Casino Royale (1967) made me think “maybe the whole idea of movies is a mistake”

Farcical nonsense, Casino Royale is a mass of stupidity that delivers few if any laughs. When spies are being targeted by an unknown enemy, Sir James Bond is forced to come out of retirement and heads up MI6 and renames all agents James Bond in order to confuse the enemy. Featuring David Niven, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen, John Huston, Orson Welles, Barbara Bouchet, and Bond Girl Ursula Andress, the cast is pretty good, but the script (presuming there was one) is terrible. The plot is hard to follow and the comedy is extremely broad and zany (especially the end). A trainwreck that has to be seen to be believed, Casino Royale doesn’t seem to know what it’s doing half the time.

I actually saw this as a teenager, and it was the first Bond movie I saw, what an intro to the franchise.

Artsy and bizarre take on Fleming's book.
