This is so directly similar to jingle all the way and it made me really confused bc they have literally the same storyline. This is def better than jingle all the way tho
Its really hard to mess up a christmas movie. If nothing else you can borrow from scores of other christmas movies (and non-christmas movies, for that matter). This movie did that, in spades. Unfortunately it feels very much like a throw-away episode from a mediocre tv show that probably won't last another year. Sure, the end is sweet, but the end of every christmas movie is sweet. The forty-five minutes before that are downright painful. It is very much a situational comedy and the situations are downright hacky. Car gets stuck in water - really? Who saw this script and thought "this is really something special"?

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this. Not sure why my expectations were low because both Merchant and Chaudhry have form for good comedy (I'm especially a big fan of Chaudhry). Perhaps it's the short runtime and the "TV movie" status, but that works in its favour. It's funny, well paced and feel good, just what Christmas needed.
