Its really hard to mess up a christmas movie. If nothing else you can borrow from scores of other christmas movies (and non-christmas movies, for that matter). This movie did that, in spades. Unfortunately it feels very much like a throw-away episode from a mediocre tv show that probably won't last another year. Sure, the end is sweet, but the end of every christmas movie is sweet. The forty-five minutes before that are downright painful. It is very much a situational comedy and the situations are downright hacky. Car gets stuck in water - really? Who saw this script and thought "this is really something special"?
