Days of Thunder 1990

Watchable but not so good. Basically a failed copy of Top Gun.

I've rarely seen a movie where you notice bad acting, especially you wouldn't expect that from Tom, but his acting was terrible here... The point is in Top Gun Tom's Character is "overdoing it" and his character is acting too cocky, which looks ridiculous but it's excellent - because that's what you want and what looks natural. In this movie it feels like Tom is overdoing as an actor when playing that character. And it just looks ridiculous and unnatural. The reactions and the emotions overall are over the top in this movie

This film got a lot of hate and I'm not sure why. Maybe because it has the same formula as Top Gun, but both were done so well. Does that make Days Of Thunder bad? NO. Hell, all the Star Wars movies used the same formula!

Days Of Thunder didn't try to pretend. The action was on the race track and the story progressed with a good tempo from beginning to end. I won't go into the details as this film should be seen like any other movie... without knowing what you're getting into. Sit back and enjoy every non-CGI moment and and entertaining characters, I'm sure some won't be disappointed.

I remember this being on TV ALL. THE. TIME. The 4k bluray gave me an excuse to finally watch it. As corny as the synth score by Zimmer.

This is fourth movie in the "arrogant Cruise" quadrilogy. Pair this with Top Gun, Cocktail and the Color of Money. Young guy that shows promise but hasn't learned everything yet is brought under the tutelage of an older man that guides him to learn how to make peace with his rivals and succeed at a higher level. This film is not operating at the level of Top Gun or Color of Money, but Duvall is fantastic in it. Great characters but ultimately I felt the "climax" in the second half of the movie couldn't live up to the first half of the film. Shame really, because the first half of the movie is awesome.

Decades ago, this was dumb fun, but in all actuality, it's really just clichéd crap. The script is just awful.

It's a lesser version of Top Gun in racing suits.

It was basically Top Gun with race cars.
