John Carpenter’s horror classic Halloween is re-envisioned by Rob Zombie as an ugly and grotesque slasher film. The story follows the formation of Michael Myers into a psychopathic killer during his childhood, and the killing spree that follows years later when he escapes from the insane asylum. Unfortunately, nearly all of the characters are unsympathetic and instantly dislikable; making it extremely hard to become engaged in the film. And, Zombie’s gratuitous and exploitative directing style is too brutal and vulgar to enjoy. Completely lacking in suspense, this Halloween remake is a distasteful mess.
Bad movie, such a cliche
Definitely one of the best in the franchise in my opinion. Really like the first part with the backstory of Michael.
Quite good remake, the modernization works and it is enough this time.
Good start... then just cliches... and felt like it ended 3 times...
This movie is not good, it's too long, and not fun. Still though its a fucking masterpiece considering the trash sequel that follows it.
What a mess. In the theatrical version I saw in theaters. Michael dies and Loomis dies. But they survive the director cut. The sequel is to the director cut since both survived that version.
The film is also over-stuffed with Michael’s backstory. It is depressing and disturbing too. The original story is lost. Since Zombie makes it too much about family and random kills galore.
If you belong to Horror groups on FB. You’ll see that some Horror fans actually prefer this version. It may explore more of why Michael became a killer but it’s not a very good movie nevertheless.
The original is simple and very well made. This movie tries to do too much.
I didn't really care to see any of Michael's backstory as a kid. I just want to see him kill some teenagers but even that wasn't all that great.
Love horror movies
this movie was just horrible and omg so much screaming! i just wanted him to kill her and end this movie.
It's a consistent film with a good script, good performances, good direction, and of course so much blood.
A good slasher not a scary movie but a good slasher film
Slow and boring. A waste of some great actors.
Better than other sequels, but without the elegance of the original film.
my favorite version of halloween by far
Literally within seconds, you'll know this is a Rob Zombie movie. Incest, domestic abuse, animal mutilation and all over breakfast.
Gone is Carpenter's subtle, graceful, suspense. Replaced with Zombie's in-your-face horror.
If you think that's a good thing then you'll love it. But I can't help but feel like Zombie was 100% the wrong choice to remake the classiest of the original slashers.
Interesting first half on how Michael Myers became Michael Myers. Good action that is sometimes repetitive. Second half is a nice remake of the original Halloween cranked up to 110%. Overall, could have been shorter.
