Een top 25: de filmredactie van NRC stemde daar dit jaar voor het eerst over. 2022 was een lastig bioscoopjaar door na-ijl-effecten van de pandemie – in januari zaten we nog in lockdown - en de ‘streamingoorlog’ tussen Netflix, Amazon, Disney+ en HBO Max, die vooral oudere kijkers aan de bank kluisterde met goede en goedkope ‘content’.

Maar de door corona ingegeven noodzaak tot bescheiden ‘kamerspelen’ leverde ook pareltjes op als Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. En wat een rare, boeiende en ontroerende films waren op het witte doek te bewonderen. Gezinstherapie in het multiversum, met dildogevechten en al. Verliefde kannibalen. Klassenstrijd op een cruiseboot. Liefde tussen 13-jarigen, alsmede tussen een 15- en een 25-jarige. En iconen: Elvis en Marilyn Monroe, detective en femme fatale.

Met pandemie en de streamingoorlog als verre herinnering is de tijd rijp om het grote scherm te herontdekken. In 2023 maakt de bioscoop zijn definitieve comeback. Afgesproken?
