AFI's 100 Years…100 Movies – 10th Anniversary Edition was the 2007 updated version of 100 Years… 100 Movies. The original list was first unveiled in 1998.
Announced on January 18, 2007, this 10th installment of the American Film Institute's (AFI) Emmy Award-winning AFI 100 Years... series counted down the 100 greatest American movies of all time in a three-hour television event. Aired June 20, 2007 on CBS, it was hosted by Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman. The program considered classic favorites and newly eligible films released from 1996 to 2006.

The list is in order of the Academy Awards Ceremony from the 1st one to the last.

The award was named "Outstanding Picture" for the first two AA. Until 1940 it was named "Outstanding Production". For 3 years between 1941 and 1943 it was named as "Outstanding Motion Picture" and from 1944 to 1961 "Best Motion Picture". Since 1962 the award is called "Best Picture".

All the winners in the Best Picture category of the Oscars.

This is a complete list of every movie that has ever been included in the various editions of 1001 movies. Given that I only own one edition of the physical book, this is a easier way to keep track of what has been (once) considered essential viewing.

My goal is to watch all 1001 before I die :) I have currently watched 367... Still quite a long way.
